A little
about myself. . .
I have an eclectic
professional background ~ while a very artsy person I received a BS
degree in Computer Science while minoring in photography. In sum, a
"geek with a good eye".
Presently I divide
my professional career within two areas: computers and photography.
My left brain activities are mainly taken with my regular job as a web
architect and multimedia producer for a national professional organization,
while my right brain activities are achieved with a camera on hand as
a professional wedding photographer or by creating artsy images while
toying around with my trusty 4x5 looking for good photo opportunities
across the countryside. Ansel Adams would be proud.
I earned my "stripes"
as a commercial photographer with a view camera while doing studio and
architectural photography, and at a later date moved over to "live"
subjects doing weddings and portraiture photography. This metamorphosis
started 15 years ago, and now I´m primarily a bonafide wedding
photographer incorporating many of the lessons learned into my wedding
craft to create a distintive look to all my work.
Along the way I have
mastered all types of media and cameras from 4x5 film cameras to the
latest models of digital capture equipment in both still and movie cameras.
The other side of the coin is that my schooling in computers and software
programs has made the transition from film to digital photography a
breeze in the areas where I choose to use that type of media.
A few things to consider
before deciding if you would like me to photograph your event. . .
I have a very good
working ethic ~ in summary, "I´ll leave it all at the floor"
on any given job. Even though my website has many references to digital
workflow, for the most part I´m a film photographer who uses digital
cameras alongside film gear for specific purposes giving you the benefits
of both mediums.
Additionally, when
you look at the images presented on the website don´t think of
me only as a photojournalism or a traditional photographer, as I do
both very easily. I don´t like labels. . . but if I have to choose
one, the best would be that of a "contemporary photographer",
which is a blend of both styles.
Finally, my best work
is achieved by working with couples that like good photography and are
willing to work together with me to achieve great photography.
Best regards ~
Hugh
